The Red tab thingy on the DV Tape – Saves a lot of work
Ever deleted or taped over a piece of family video you took a few years back loaded with once-in-a-lifetime shots? You’re not alone, for many amateur video shooters comit the same mistakes over and over again, often resulting in the loss of some very important video footage that is enough to send you crying. The advent of video and dvd video burning software and hardware has prevented this to come extent b ut many still get to erasing stuff they need. The red tab (somwtimes white or some other color depending on the manufacturer) on the digital tape was placed there for a reson and that is to prevent such accidents. The tab is a mechanical write protect that the camers checks either electronically or mechanically to see if a tape is set to be saved and not recorded on. It is also wise to label your tapes clearly so you get to know which is which.
